BKF is seeking an Area Lead - Transportation Design to grow and lead the transportation design service in Northern California. You will drive market growth, manage high-value pursuits, and oversee delivery across multiple projects while maintaining strong client relationships and coordinating with regional leadership.

The role requires a minimum of 12 years in engineering, a strong doer-seller background, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of engineering project management experience.
• Established relationships with Northen California transportation agencies.
• Credibility as a doer-seller, combining market leadership with project delivery.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; California PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow transportation design market in Northern California.
• Direct liaison with transportation agencies and public-sector decision makers.
• Oversee multi-project delivery, budgets, and staffing.
• Develop and maintain client relationships for growth.
• Ensure QA/QC and mitigate project risks.
• Mentor and develop staff across offices.
