BKF is seeking an Area Lead - Transportation Design in Northern California to guide market growth, client relationships, and project delivery. You will oversee multiple offices, mentor teams, and align regional activities with broader firm goals.

The role requires 12+ years in engineering with proven doer-seller and leadership capabilities, a Civil Engineering degree, and a California PE preferred. Expect travel, strategic planning, and a strong focus on quality and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field is required.
• PE license in California preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of engineering experience with project management focus.
• Established relationships with Northern California transportation agencies.
• Proven success leading major transportation project pursuits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute transportation market strategy in Northern California.
• Lead major pursuits for highway, municipal, transit, and airports.
• Oversee day-to-day area operations and monitor KPIs.
• Develop and maintain client relationships to support growth.
• Mentor and supervise project managers and engineers.
• Coordinate scope, timelines and deliverables across projects.
