BKF is seeking an Area Lead - Transportation Design to grow the firm’s transportation design practice in Northern California. You will oversee project delivery, manage cross-office teams, and align with regional and firm-wide goals.

This senior role reports to Transportation Design leadership and requires strategic client engagement. Applicants should have 12+ years in engineering with project management, strong BD capability, CA agency relationships, a Civil Engineering degree, and a PE license

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in engineering with a focus on managing projects.
• Proven experience in business development and client relationship management.
• Established relationships with California transportation agencies, especially North Bay and Sacramento Valley.

Responsabilités

• Own and execute market strategy for Northern California transportation design.
• Lead and shape major transportation pursuits (highway, municipal, transit, airports).
• Oversee day-to-day operations across area offices and ensure policy adherence.
• Develop and mentor staff, foster inclusive team culture across offices.
• Maintain regular communication with Regional Lead and office leaders.
