Job summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking a Manager of Contract Operations to oversee the yellow bus contract, ensuring compliance with terms, performance metrics, and reporting. The role requires coordinating with the contractor, reviewing contractor reports, and auditing contract performance across bus operations and yard facilities.

Responsibilities include leading performance reviews, improving on-time performance and safety, and supporting procurement for bus operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of experience in operations or contract operations management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage matters of significant complexity with minimal supervision.
• Ability to develop and implement procedures to improve operations and cost efficiencies.
• Strong ability to organize and track multiple projects and documents over time.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to summarize work and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support management of the Department’s ~$100M+ annual contract for operation and maintenance of buses, fueling infrastruc­ture, and yard facilities.
• Lead coordination of Monthly Performance Reviews and related meetings with the contractor.
• Audit and verify contract performance using current technology and reports.
• Attend and contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly operations meetings.
• Develop strategies and tools to improve on-time performance, safety, customer service, and budget efficiency.
• Ensure contractor compliance with all contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare reports for school committee, city council, and stakeholders.
