Transportation Construction Inspector

Our Pittsburgh Construction Management Team is seeking inspectors for PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike assignments. This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship except for TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
2. Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
3. Measure dimensions and verify levels, alignments, and elevations of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavements to ensure adherence to plans and codes.
4. Gather and maintain record documents.
5. Make field notes and calculations.

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Proficiency with computers.
• Active driver's license and reliable vehicle. Must successfully complete JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (experience may substitute).
• 1-4 years of construction inspection experience.

Preferred Experience

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Client-requested certifications.
