Job summary

West Virginia's Transportation Division is seeking a Director of Budget to lead the development, execution, and monitoring of the department's budget. You will advise the CAO, Secretary of Transportation, and agency heads on fiscal matters and coordinate across highways, motor vehicles, and multimodal facilities.

The role requires strategic policy development, oversight of budgeting and reporting, and interaction with state officials and the public.

Qualifications

• Experience in budgeting, accounting, and financial planning within a large organization.
• Knowledge of fiscal and budgetary management fundamentals.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work across teams.
• Ability to interact with government officials, the public, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develops and adopts operational policies for the division.
• Develops and administers long and short-range goals for the division.
• Oversees daily operations through managers and supervisors.
• Coordinates division activities with other state and federal units.
• Conducts technical research and recommends process improvements.
• Testifies at hearings and defends laws and regulations as needed.
