Job summary

Albany Medical Center, part of the Albany Med Health System, is seeking a board-certified/eligible Transplant Nephrologist to join its growing abdominal transplant program in New York. The role blends transplant nephrology with general nephrology, offering inpatient care, outpatient clinic duties, and opportunities in education and program development.

The ideal candidate will have fellowship training in transplant nephrology, nephrology board eligibility, and a commitment to academic medicine

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in Transplant Nephrology from an accredited program.
• MD/DO or equivalent with board certification or eligibility in Nephrology.
• Academic experience or interest sufficient for appointment at Assistant or Associate Professor level.

Responsibilities

• Provide a combined practice in transplant nephrology and general nephrology.
• Participate in inpatient transplant care and multidisciplinary rounds.
• Manage immunosuppression, graft function evaluation, and transplant-specific care for kidney recipients.
• Share coverage of transplant-related inpatient consults and nephrology call duties.
• Engage in outpatient transplant clinics: pre-transplant recipient evaluations, living donor evaluations, and post-transplant follow-up; contribute to expansion initiatives including NKR program.
• Collaborate with transplant surgery, APPs, coordinators, pharmacists, and support teams.
• Participate in organ offer reviews and recipient selection discussions as transplant volume grows.
• Lead quality improvement and transplant program development initiatives; contribute to teaching and research.
