Albany Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Transplant Nephrologist to join its growing abdominal transplant program. The role blends transplant nephrology with general nephrology within Albany Medical College and the Albany Med Health System.

The ideal candidate will have fellowship in Transplant Nephrology, NY licensure, and an interest in teaching, research, and program development, with strong collaboration and patient‑centered care.

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in Transplant Nephrology from an accredited transplant nephrology fellowship program.
• MD/DO or equivalent degree with board certification or eligibility in Nephrology
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in nephrology subspecialty care
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of New York.
• Academic experience or interest sufficient for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach to care.
• Commitment to education, quality improvement, and advancing transplant medicine.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient transplant care and multidisciplinary transplant rounds.
• Outpatient transplant clinics, including pre-transplant recipient evaluations, living donor evaluations, post-transplant follow-up care.
• Participation in organ offer review and recipient selection discussions as transplant volume grows.
• Active involvement in quality improvement, and transplant program development initiatives.
