Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Transplant Nephrologist to join its expanding abdominal transplant program. This role blends transplant nephrology with general nephrology in an academic setting, offering opportunities in teaching, clinical collaboration, and program development.

The ideal candidate will have fellowship training in transplant nephrology and be eligible for NY licensure.

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in Transplant Nephrology from an accredited program.
• MD/DO or equivalent degree with board certification or eligibility in Nephrology.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in nephrology subspecialty care.
• Eligible for medical licensure in New York.
• Academic experience or interest sufficient for an Assistant/Associate Professor appointment.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach to care.
• Commitment to education, quality improvement, and advancing transplant medicine.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient transplant care and multidisciplinary transplant rounds.
• Involvement in medical management of kidney transplant recipients, including immunosuppression management and graft function evaluation.
• Outpatient transplant clinics: pre-transplant recipient evaluations, living donor evaluations, post-transplant follow-up, and expansion initiatives.
• Collaborate with transplant surgery, advanced practice providers, coordinators, pharmacists, and other teams.
• Participation in organ offer reviews and recipient selection discussions as transplant volume grows.
• Active involvement in quality improvement and program development initiatives.
