The Transplant Financial Coordinator is responsible for patient financial counseling and clarification of insurance issues to help facilitate access to and provide continuity of care for transplant patients, working with the transplant team, insurers and administrative staff at the Transplant Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
• No licensure or certification required.
• Four (4) years of health care operations experience with two (2) years with private and federal insurance programs.
• Eight (8) years of health care operations experience with two (2) years with private and federal insurance programs.
• Twelve (12) years of health care operations experience with two (2) years with private and federal insurance programs.

Responsibilities

• Financial management of post-transplant services and counseling on billing and insurance issues.
• Participate on interdisciplinary transplant team; communicate financial information and verify benefits and authorizations.
• Counsel patients about transplant costs, Medicaid/Medicare and other programs; identify potential out‑of‑pocket liability.
• Support policies and procedures; advise on compliance and interpretations for staff and patients.
• Maintain professional development with transplant associations and update on laws and guidelines.
• Manage CMS tracking codes and determine transplant-related services and benefit flow.
