Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a dedicated Transplant Financial Coordinator to manage insurance verification, precertifications, and patient financial profiles.

The role involves coordinating with physicians, coordinators, and administrators to ensure coverage and timely treatment for transplant candidates. Responsibilities include securing approvals, communicating with payers, and providing counseling on coverage options (Medicaid, COBRA, employer plans).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of transplant coordination, utilization review, financial counseling or insurance reimbursement experience preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance regulations, health care issues, medical terminology; strong organizational and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to interact effectively with hospital staff, management and physicians.
• Tactful, compassionate interpersonal skills with patients, families and providers during financial screening and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Researches and verifies insurance coverage for transplant evaluations and related processes.
• Secures precertification authorizations for transplant episodes and conducts monthly verifications.
• Prepares or obtains letters of medical necessity and communicates coverage status to the clinical coordinator.
• Provides financial counseling on insurance options including COBRA, Medicaid and employer coverage.
• Develops and coordinates financial profiles for patients with inadequate or no insurance.
