Job summary

1898 & Co. is seeking a Transmission Planning Consultant to perform advanced studies, support client decision‑making, and contribute to project execution across North America. The role focuses on reliability, renewable integration, and technical/economic analysis in electric grid planning.

You will work with software tools like PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Promod, collaborating with clients in a fast-paced environment and traveling as needed to meet project requirements.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required or related degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Master's degree (engineering or business) with 2+ years experience, or PhD with 1+ year experience.
• Experience with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.

Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, transient stability, and short-circuit studies.
• Evaluate regulatory requirements and regional standards (NERC, FERC).
• Independently execute transmission planning studies using industry tools.
• Analyze data to develop actionable insights for clients.
• Develop life-cycle cost analyses including CAPEX and O&M costs.
• Prepare technical reports and client presentations.
• Support project managers with deliverables and proposals.
