Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an engineering professional to perform comprehensive transmission planning studies and analyses, including power flow, stability, and reliability assessments. Proficiency with PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Promod is required.

The role includes regulatory evaluation, report writing, and client presentations. The position supports multiple US locations (Houston, Austin, Dallas) with up to 15% travel and telecommuting up to 30 days per year.

Qualifications

• Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree plus 3 years in power system planning/operations.
• Alternative: master's degree plus 2 years experience in power system planning/operations.
• Must have experience in power system analysis, protection & control, electrical design, or planning processes.
• Experience in consulting or electric utilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission planning studies and related analyses.
• Evaluate regulatory conditions and risk per NERC, FERC and regional rules.
• Independently execute studies using industry software.
• Develop technical reports and client presentations.
• Assist in business development and client relationships.
• Travel up to 15% domestically; telecommuting up to 30 days/year.
