Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Power System Planning Engineer to perform a broad range of studies including power flow, stability, and economic dispatch related to congestion management. You will independently execute studies using PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, and other tools, and develop technical and financial analyses for client projects.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering education with 3+ years of experience, or a master's with 2+ years, plus experience in power system analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program with 3+ years in power system planning and operations.
• Master's degree in engineering with 2+ years in power system planning and operations in lieu of 3 years Bachelor's plus experience.
• Two years of experience in power system analysis, protection and control, electrical design, or planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct power system studies including planning, reliability, and economic dispatch analyses.
• Evaluate regulatory conditions and risks per NERC, FERC, and regional requirements.
• Develop and present detailed reports and client presentations.
• Support business development activities including proposals and client relationships.
• Travel up to 15% domestically; telecommuting up to 30 days per year.
