Job summary

Burns & McDonnell, through its 1898 & Co. transmission planning practice in US-CA (Brea), seeks a Transmission Planning Consultant to perform advanced studies and provide high-quality technical and economic analyses for a diverse client base.

You will work with industry-standard tools (PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, Promod) and support project execution, risk assessment, and client collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or related degree and 3 years of experience.
• Or master's degree in engineering or business, and 2 years of experience.
• Or PhD in engineering and 1 year of experience.
• Experience with electric utility operations and planning.
• Knowledge of NERC, FERC, and regional requirements and generator interconnection.

Responsibilities

• Perform broad studies: power flow, short-circuit, stability, and transfer analyses.
• Evaluate regulatory conditions using NERC, FERC, and regional rules.
• Execute planning studies with industry software (PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD).
• Develop technical and economic data for client decisions.
• Prepare technical reports and client presentations.
