Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full Time Civil/Structural Engineering (Transmission Lines) Intern for next Summer in Maitland, FL. Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, you will join a 12-week internship starting May 17, 2027, with flexible start date.

You will gain hands-on experience across transmission line design, modeling, and collaboration with utility stakeholders while working alongside senior staff in a supportive internship program. No relocation assistance is provided.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related undergraduate or master program with an anticipated graduation date August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older at start of internship.
• Demonstrated interest in transmission lines and desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to take direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and general computer tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start date.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Transmission Line Engineering.
• Participate in all aspects of transmission line design for new installations, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic enhancements.
• Use PLS CADD Modeling software and aerial imagery to map and represent transmission line routes.
• Collaborate directly with utility stakeholders and construction partners.
• Gain expertise in model design, construction material procurement, and creation of professional drawings for construction.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies.
