Job summary

WSP is offering a full-time Civil/Structural Engineering (Transmission Lines) Intern position in Ann Arbor, MI for Summer 2027. The 12-week program starts May 17, 2027, with flexible start dates.

You will work on transmission line design, use PLS CADD, and collaborate with utility partners while gaining hands-on experience. Applicants must be enrolled in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (Undergrad or Master) and be 18+, authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Mechanical Engineering program with expected graduation August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Interest in transmission lines and desire to develop skills related to WSP’s projects.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication, able to present to varied audiences.
• Ability to take direction from mentors and manage assignments with supervision.
• Basic technical writing, office software and spreadsheet proficiency.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP policies.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Transmission Line Engineering.
• Participate in all aspects of transmission line design for new installations, relocations, upgrades.
• Use PLS CADD Modeling software and aerial imagery to map transmission routes.
• Collaborate with utility stakeholders and construction partners.
• Gain experience in model design, material procurement, and creation of construction drawings.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP Code of Conduct and safety policies.
