Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full Time Civil/Structural Engineering (Transmission Lines) Intern for the Summer 2027 program in Overland Park, KS. You will work alongside senior staff, gaining hands-on experience on real projects and professional mentorship through our Developing Professionals Network.

The 12‑week program starts May 17, 2027, with exposure to transmission line design, PLS CADD modeling, and collaboration with utility stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil Engineering undergraduate program with anticipated graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18+ and authorized to work in the United States.
• Interest in transmission lines and desire to grow related skills.
• Strong communication with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from mentors and managers.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
• Commitment to workplace safety and policy compliance.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a range of engineering tasks to build technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic transmission line engineering principles.
• Participate in transmission line design for new installations, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optics.
• Use PLS CADD and aerial imagery to map transmission line routes.
• Collaborate with utility stakeholders and construction partners.
• Gain experience in model design, material procurement, and construction drawings.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to Code of Conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
