Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full Time Civil/Structural Engineering (Transmission Lines) Intern for next Summer to work at our Ann Arbor, MI office. This temporary internship targets undergrad or grad students and runs as part of the 12-week WSP Summer Internship Program.

Anticipated May 17, 2027 start with flexible individual start date. Interns gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to real projects in power delivery, power generation, and program management, with senior staff guiding

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (undergrad or master) with graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Interest in transmission lines or related field and desire to advance in WSP’s projects.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors and managers.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Proven ability to uphold workplace safety and abide by policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a range of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basics of Transmission Line Engineering.
• Participate in transmission line design for new installations, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optics work.
• Use PLS CADD Modeling software and imagery to map routes.
• Collaborate with utility stakeholders and construction partners.
• Develop skills in model design, procurement, and creation of construction drawings.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to the Code of Conduct.
• Perform additional duties as needed by the team.
