Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full Time Civil/Structural Engineering (Transmission Lines) Intern for the Minneapolis, MN office next summer. This 12-week internship starts May 17, 2027, with flexibility on start date.

You'll work with senior staff on transmission line projects, gaining hands-on design experience using PLS CADD and producing professional drawings. Open to undergraduate or graduate students in Civil Engineering; 18+ and US work authorization required.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in Civil Engineering undergraduate program with anticipated graduation August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Interest in transmission lines and willingness to develop related skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Able to take direction and work with mentors to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets and tools.
• Commitment to workplace safety and WSP policies.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Transmission Line Engineering.
• Participate in all aspects of transmission line design for new installations and upgrades.
• Use PLS CADD modeling software and aerial imagery for route mapping.
• Collaborate with utility stakeholders and construction partners.
• Develop construction drawings and model designs for projects.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.

Education

Civil Engineering Undergraduate program (Anticipated Aug 2027 or later)

18+ years old

Strong interest in transmission lines

Interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to take direction and execute projects

Technical writing and software basics

Authorized to work in the United States
