Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group is seeking an engineering intern to support overhead transmission line design under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers. You will gain hands‑on experience with design software and traditional methods to deliver reliable, cost‑effective solutions for our customers.

As an intern you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, assist in drafting, modeling, and calculations, and participate in design reviews and data collection.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Coursework or familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
• Basic understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI and IBC.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
• Support drafting and mapping using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS or similar software.
• Implement engineering redlines and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Perform basic engineering calculations, such as sag‑tension analysis and pole loading checks, under supervision.
• Help prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop and refine engineering solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
• Maintain organized records of design data, drawings, and project notes.
• Work approximately 40 hours per week during the internship period.
