Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking a civil/ mechanical/ structural engineering intern to support overhead transmission line design and analysis. You will work with experienced engineers to draft, model, and review drawings and calculations for power delivery projects.

You will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and PLS-CADD, while learning codes such as NESC and IEEE.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Coursework or familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD preferred.
• Basic understanding of design codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC).

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with overhead transmission line design and analysis.
• Support drafting and mapping using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
• Implement engineering redlines and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Perform basic engineering calculations under supervision.
• Help prepare documentation and design packages for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to refine engineering solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
• Maintain organized records of design data and project notes.
• Work approximately 40 hours per week during the internship.
