Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC is seeking an Electrical/Civil/Mechanical internship focused on transmission line design. You will assist with overhead line design, line routing, and structure analysis, while gaining hands-on experience with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS under supervision.

You will support engineering teams in drafting, data collection, and documentation, with a 40-hour work week, in a collaborative environment that emphasizes learning and safety.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Coursework or familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
• Basic understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
• Support drafting and mapping using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
• Implement engineering redlines and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Perform basic engineering calculations under supervision (e.g., sag-tension analysis, pole loading checks).
• Help prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop and refine engineering solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
• Maintain organized records of design data, drawings, and project notes.
• Work approximately 40 hours per week during the internship period.
