Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in Missouri is seeking an engineering intern to gain hands-on experience supporting overhead transmission line design and project delivery. You will assist engineers with PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis, while using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS under supervision.

This internship offers mentorship, exposure to safety and QA/QC practices, and opportunities to contribute to real projects across the electric grid.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
• Knowledge of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
• Support drafting and mapping using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
• Implement engineering redlines and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Perform basic engineering calculations, such as sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks, under supervision.
• Help prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop and refine engineering solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
• Maintain organized records of design data, drawings, and project notes.
