Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC is seeking a motivated engineering intern to assist with overhead transmission line design and related drafting tasks in Portland, Oregon. You will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience with PLS-CADD modeling, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.

The internship emphasizes learning, teamwork, and practical application of civil/structural engineering fundamentals in a utility-scale environment.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Coursework or familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
Basic understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.

Responsibilities

Assist engineers with all aspects of overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
Support drafting and mapping using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
Implement engineering redlines and ensure drawing accuracy.
Perform basic engineering calculations, such as sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks, under supervision.
Help prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop and refine engineering solutions.
Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
Maintain organized records of design data, drawings, and project notes.
Work approximately 40 hours per week during the internship period.
