Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to join our EPC Solutions Team. You’ll design overhead and underground transmission systems for major developer and utility clients—real projects with real construction dates and measurable impact on how power moves across the country.

You’ll work under a licensed PE, collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines, manage design decisions, prepare construction packages, and interface with clients to build communication skills that set senior

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission line design.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while staying plugged into a team.
• Candidates must be located in the United States to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze transmission structures using PLS-CADD to verify loading under NESC or GO95.
• Design and analyze steel, wood, concrete, or fiberglass transmission structures using PLS-POLE.
• Underbuild/joint-use or attachment analysis, when required.
• Perform foundation design or analysis for direct-embed and drilled-pier structures in MFAD or LPILE.
• Prepare construction packages, including basis of design, plans and profiles, staking sheets, BOMs, data sheets.
• Coordinate with Construction prime on material procurement and specs.
• Perform conductor selection and EMF studies.
• Attend field walks and constructability reviews; support proposal/estimating efforts.
