Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to join our EPC Solutions Team. You will design overhead and underground transmission systems for major developer and utility clients, collaborating across engineering disciplines to deliver field-ready packages and timelines.

Under the guidance of a licensed PE, you will grow in ownership of design decisions while supporting project development from routing through as-builts. This role requires US residence and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission line design.
• Proficiency in both PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while staying plugged into a team.
• Candidates must be located in the United States to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform structure spotting and transmission line design in PLS-CADD to verify conductor clearances and loading under NESC or GO95.
• Design and analyze steel, wood, concrete, or fiberglass transmission structures using PLS-POLE, including structure selection and loading verification.
• Underbuild/joint-use or attachment analysis, when required.
• Perform foundation design or analysis for direct-embed and drilled-pier structures in MFAD or LPILE.
• Prepare construction packages, including basis of design, plan and profiles, staking sheets, BOM, structure data sheets, etc.
• Coordinate with Construction on material procurement, specs, and constructability.
• Perform conductor selection and EMF studies.
• Attend field walks and constructability reviews as needed.
• Support proposal/estimating efforts.
