Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC seeks a Design Engineer - Transmission Line to design, analyze, and upgrade high-voltage transmission facilities. You will perform routing, structure analysis, sag-tension calculations and prepare drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.

You will collaborate with engineers to ensure code compliance (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC) and contribute to safe, reliable grid projects.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with power distribution design software (PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD preferred).
• Knowledge of design codes such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.

Responsibilities

• Perform, lead, and oversee overhead transmission line design including routing, structure analysis, sag-tension, and loading calculations.
• Use CAD tools to produce scaled drawings and mapping (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS).
• Draft and implement engineering redlines with precision before finalizing drawings.
• Conduct engineering calculations: voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker, pole loading assessments.
• Prepare joint utility use authorizations based on field data and redlines.
• Ensure compliance with codes and construction standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC).
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions and modifications.
• Maintain thorough project documentation and engineering calculations.
• Work 40 hours/week, up to 50 hours with potential overtime.
