Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group is seeking a Design Engineer - Transmission Line to design, build, maintain and upgrade high-voltage transmission infrastructure across regions. You will use CAD tools, perform complex calculations, and ensure safety and quality standards.

You will collaborate with engineers and project teams, travel up to 10%, and contribute to sustainable, cost-effective solutions while adhering to NESC/IEEE/ANSI/IBC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2+ years of routing and design experience for high voltage overhead transmission line facilities.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with power distribution software (PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD preferred).
• Understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drafting and design principles.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling and line routing.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Implement engineering redlines with precision before final drafting.
• Perform calculations like voltage drop, cable pulling, and pole loading assessments.
• Prepare joint utility use authorizations from field data and redlines.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and design standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC).
• Maintain project documentation and support engineering calculations.
