AtkinsRéalis USA Inc. seeks a Transmission Line Engineer for our Rochester, NY and Binghamton, NY offices. You will design 12 kV–500 kV overhead lines and 12 kV–230 kV underground systems, perform feasibility studies, and prepare cost estimates and tender documents.

Required: BS in Electrical Engineering, 2–5 years of transmission design, PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/PLS-TOWER proficiency, and US code familiarity. P.E. registration preferred or eligible within 1–2 years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• P.E. registration preferred or eligible to obtain within 1–2 years.
• 2–5 years transmission line design experience.
• Technical acuity in T&D engineering required.
• Proficient with PLS software suite (PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/PLS-TOWER).
• Experience with transmission tower structural analysis and GIS (ArcGIS) is a plus.
• Familiar with US codes, standards, and regulations for transmission line design.
• Experience with thermal upgrading and line condition assessments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Detail design of 12 kV to 500 kV overhead transmission line projects from concept through construction.
• Detail design of underground transmission lines from 12 kV to 230 kV.
• Conduct feasibility and planning studies.
• Prepare planning and detailed project cost estimates (engineering, materials, construction).
• Prepare construction and material specifications and scope documents for tenders and contracts.
• Coordinate with disciplines, review others' work, and interface with permitting/regulatory bodies.
• Perform field reviews during construction.
• Capable of taking on a project engineer role when needed.
