Eagle County Government is seeking a Transit Service Writer to bridge Fleet Services and Core Transit for vehicle maintenance and repair needs. You will be the primary contact ensuring smooth communication, scheduling, and cost tracking to keep local transit running safely.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive repair facility or service advisor/writer role (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record. Technical communication: translate non-technical driver descriptions into accurate, clear technical language for mechanics and supervisors.
  • Strong computer skills, point-of-sale proficiency, and experience managing digital work orders and records.

Responsibilities

  • Core Transit Liaison (30%): Act as the main point of contact between Fleet Services and Core Transit personnel regarding vehicle maintenance, repair scheduling, and operational priorities.
  • Work Order & Software Management (30%): Utilize FASTER fleet management software to schedule service appointments, create and process work orders, track job progress, calculate charges, and process payments.
  • Technical Communication (20%): Convey critical details regarding repair scopes, costs, and parts requirements directly to the Transit Supervisor.
  • Customer Relations & Grievance Resolution (15%): Address customer questions throughout the repair process, contact departments promptly regarding additional necessary work or extra costs, and manage complaints, returns, and service grievances with tact.
  • Light Maintenance & Diagnostics (10%): Perform occasional light repairs or initial diagnostic evaluations while maintaining 100% adherence to safety procedures and county standards.

Job description

Are you a knowledgeable automotive or fleet service professional who excels at technical workflow management, customer communication, and shop organization? Eagle County Government is seeking a dedicated Transit Service Writer to serve as the liaison between Fleet Services and Core Transit regarding their vehicle maintenance and repair needs.

In this pivotal role, your daily work directly keeps local public transportation moving safely throughout the Eagle River Valley. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your mechanical understanding and organizational skills directly impact local transit, we want you on our team!

Salary range: $29.71 – $41.59

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am–5pm. Flexible work arrangements may be available.

What You’ll Do

As our Transit Service Writer, you will streamline communication and service delivery across our fleet:

What You Bring to the Role
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive repair facility or service advisor/writer role (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record. Technical Communication: Ability to translate non-technical driver descriptions into accurate, clear technical language for mechanics and supervisors.
  • Systems Proficiency: Strong computer skills, point-of-sale proficiency, and experience managing digital work orders and records.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: Completion of a technical training program with ASE Certifications in Automotive, Medium/Heavy Truck, or Transit Bus.
  • Software Knowledge: Hands‑on experience with FASTER (CCG) fleet management software and New World Systems financial software.
