Job summary

High Valley Transit in Park City, Kansas is seeking a Mechanic to join our maintenance team. You’ll service vans, cutaways, and full-size transit buses, both diesel and electric, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and road-ready for riders who depend on us.

You’ll perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, road calls, and keep accurate service records while following safety protocols and manufacturer specs. ASE certifications and CDL are a plus, and training is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational/technical training in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL (Class B) preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Diesel engine experience is a plus but not required; training available.
• Familiarity with electric vehicle systems a plus; ASE certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on vans, cutaways, and full-size transit buses.
• Service and repair diesel and electric drivetrains, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Perform routine inspections in compliance with DOT and other applicable safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records and work orders in the fleet maintenance system.
• Complete road calls and emergency repairs as needed.
• Order parts and maintain inventory of commonly used components.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.

In this role, you'll help keep our diverse fleet — vans, cutaway buses, and full-size transit buses, both diesel and electric — safe, reliable, and road-ready.
