Job summary

Qualifications

• Transit safety experience required.
• Experience in transit, preferably urban public.
• College degree or 5+ years of safety management experience.
• CDS and/or CSP designation preferred.
• Knowledge of FTA, FMCSA, and DOT rules.
• Knowledge of corporate safety programs and policies.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Effective communication across departments.
• Independent work capability.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Familiar with Windows & Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Sets the tone for training compliance for operators.
• Ensures safety manuals, programs, and policies are current.
• Expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance.
• Ensures new hires meet general qualifications incl. background and DMV checks.
• Uses safety tech tools; analyzes trend data to reduce incidents.
• Oversees safety incentives and programs, including Safety Points.
• Maintains a consistent safety culture across locations.
• Coordinates with claims to manage liability and subrogation.
• Manages injury claims to minimize lost time; coordinates light duty.
• Oversees audits by corporate, client, and regulators.
• Leads safety training (classroom and behind‑the‑wheel) per specs.
