Job summary

Qualifications

• Transit safety experience.
• Experience working in transit, preferably urban public.
• Previous passenger transportation in current project or similar environment preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience supervising or training paratransit drivers with CDL and Non-CDL eligibility.
• National Safety Council Defensive Driving Instructor certification or equivalent training.
• Knowledge of FTA, FMCSA, and DOT safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of corporate safety programs and policies.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all departments.
• Ability to work independently and objectively.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to delegate tasks and supervise staff.
• Familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Shall be responsible for conducting and/or delegating classroom and behind-the wheel training and evaluating drivers.
• Sets the tone for operators' compliance with training requirements of company and contract.
• Ensures safety manuals, programs and policies are current and meet operating division needs.
• Acts as the expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance and regulations.
• Ensures new hires meet minimum qualifications including background and DMV checks.
• Uses safety technology tools, analyzes trend data, and develops plans to reduce incidents.
• Oversees the Drug and Alcohol program.
• Oversees corporate safety incentives and programs, including Safety Points.
• Fosters a consistent safety culture across locations with ops, safety, and maintenance teams.
• Collaborates with claims staff to manage liability and workers' comp claims.
• Manages injury claims to minimize time loss and ensure timely light-duty return-to-work.
• Oversees audits by corporate, client, and regulatory bodies.
• Leads division safety training alignment with corporate/client specs.
