Job summary

MV Transportation is seeking an experienced Safety and Training Manager to lead OSHA and CDL compliance initiatives, develop safety programs, and oversee division-level safety leadership. This role requires transit safety experience, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with operations, maintenance and claims teams.

Starting salary range is $77,000–$92,000 per year. The ideal candidate will have a college degree or 5+ years of safety management experience, plus CSP or CDS

Qualifications

• Transit safety experience required.
• Experience in transit, preferably urban public.
• Passenger transportation experience in current project or similar environment preferred.
• College degree or 5+ years in safety management.
• CDS (Certified Director of Safety) and/or CSP designation desired.
• Knowledge of safety rules: FTA, FMCSA, DOT.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Sets the tone for ensuring operators are current with training requirements.
• Ensures safety manuals, programs, policies and practices are current and meet division needs.
• Resides as the expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance and regulations.
• Ensures new hires meet minimum general qualifications including background and DMV checks.
• Uses safety technology tools to analyze trend data and develop improvement plans.
• Oversees safety incentives and programs, including Safety Points.
• Promotes a consistent safety culture across locations and departments.
• Coordinates with claims staff to manage liability and worker’s compensation claims.
• Manages injury claims to minimize lost time and ensure quick return to full duty.
• Leads audits by corporate, client, state and federal regulators.
• Guides safety training delivery (classroom and behind-the-wheel) per specs.
