Job summary

Transdev in East Hartford, CT is seeking a Transit Safety Manager to develop and oversee safety programs ensuring compliance with FTA, OSHA, DOT and state regulations. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and promote a culture of safety.

This role requires a HS diploma (Bachelor's preferred), NSC Defensive Driving Instructor certification, SMS experience, and 3+ years in safety/leadership.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred in Safety Management or related field.
• Must be a National Safety Council Defensive Driving Instructor or have equivalent training.
• Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and regulatory compliance programs preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory or leadership experience.
• Experience in location safety management and/or operations management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate safety policies & procedures; submit safety reports and regulatory filings.
• Establish and enforce local safety policies and performance standards.
• Monitor compliance with FTA, DOT, OSHA, Drug & Alcohol, and state regs.
• Coordinate annual safety program reviews and updates.
• Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction per PDOP specifications.
