Job summary

Transdev North America in Sussex, Delaware, seeks a Transit Safety Manager to develop, implement, and oversee the location's safety programs, ensuring compliance with FTA, DOT, OSHA and state regs. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and promote a culture of safety across employees, passengers, and the public.

The role supports recruitment and training of operator candidates, coordinates safety reviews, and partners with regulators and auditors.

Qualifications

• Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate safety policies, procedures, and standards to meet regulatory requirements.
• Monitor compliance with FTA, DOT, OSHA, and state regulations.
• Coordinate annual safety program reviews and updates, and maintain training records.

Responsibilities

• Establish relationships with client and corporate personnel to identify training needs and resources.
• Prepare and conduct monthly safety meetings.
• Directs drug and alcohol program and ensures audits pass.
• Manage injury prevention program and conduct root-cause incident investigations.
• Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and operational reviews.
• Coordinate safety activities during emergencies and major incidents.
• Travel up to 15% outside immediate area.
