Job summary

LYNX is seeking a Transit Safety & Program Specialist to develop, implement, and evaluate safety programs for bus operations and workplace safety. You will lead safety audits, investigations, and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role covers video/electronic security, operational, industrial, environmental safety, and occupational health areas. A 4-year safety-related degree and 4+ years’ experience are required; Florida driver’s license is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, safety engineering, industrial engineering, public safety, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of experience in workplace safety and accident mitigation programs in transportation or related industry.
• Additional related experience may substitute for education year-for-year.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Investigates incidents involving the public and employees, determines causes, and provides solutions and reports to regulatory agencies.
• Implements and monitors occupational health and safety programs ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
• Analyzes trend data to identify root causes and reduce costs.
• Conducts safety training programs and develops safety policies and procedures.
• Reviews and revises safety manuals and creates required reports.
• Generates safety communications and conducts safety campaigns.
• Participates in committees and attends meetings related to health and safety.
• Acts as an in-house consultant on safety, health, and environmental issues.
• Provides emergency support to local counties’ Offices of Emergency Management.
