Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking an on-site Bus Service Planning, Emerging Talent Intern to support data analysis, mapping, and public outreach for NYC bus network redesign efforts. Work will involve fieldwork, data processing, and collaboration with multiple departments and stakeholders.

The role focuses on developing post-implementation evaluation materials, preparing maps and graphics, and providing technical support to full-time staff on Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Proficiency with diverse data sources and large datasets is expected.
  • Familiarity with transit systems, especially NYCT subway and bus networks, and NYC geography is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance for improving bus service in NYC.
  • Perform data collection and analysis to evaluate current and future bus service.
  • Make or evaluate proposals to adjust bus stops for better service.
  • Develop maps and graphics to explain data for non-technical audiences.
  • Review public and stakeholder feedback on Bus Network Redesign plans.
  • Participate in public outreach, including on-street engagement and meetings.
