Job summary

City of New York seeks Transportation Specialists to support the Bus Priority Subunit and Planning & Policy Subunit within Transit Development (TD), NYC DOT. You will assist with planning, design and implementation of bus-priority projects, and coordinate with the MTA and other stakeholders to advance the NYC Streets Plan and Better Buses initiative.

The role requires strong quantitative analysis, CAD/GIS proficiency, and ability to communicate results through presentations.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in transportation engineering or related field plus experience.
  • Engineering degree with 1 year of relevant transportation/traffic experience or higher.
  • Associate degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and implement in-house bus priority projects.
  • Provide conceptual design and design reviews for capital projects.
  • Conduct planning analyses to improve bus stops and mobility.
  • Coordinate with MTA and other stakeholders on transit planning efforts.
  • Engage with the public through workshops and presentations; occasional evening/weekend work.
