Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) seeks graduate-level college aides for the Bus Service Planning unit in New York City. You will support data analysis, mapping, and presentations, contributing to Queens and Brooklyn redesign efforts with fieldwork and post-implementation evaluation.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with large datasets and multiple data sources.
• Familiarity with transit systems, especially NYC bus/subway networks.
• Knowledge of transportation and land use planning concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
• Detail-oriented and independent while a team player.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for improving bus service in NYC.
• Perform in-depth data collection and analysis to evaluate current and future bus service.
• Make or evaluate proposals to adjust bus stops for better service or to accommodate land use.
• Develop maps and graphics to communicate data to a non-technical audience.
• Review and respond to public and stakeholder feedback on Bus Network Redesign plans.
• Participate in public outreach, including on-street engagement and presentations.
• Collaborate with other MTA departments and stakeholders.
• Conduct various fieldwork assignments as needed.
