Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation—Transit Development is seeking a Community Coordinator to support planning, design, and outreach for bus priority projects and transit improvements. You will work with community boards, attend workshops, and coordinate with the MTA to advance the NYC Streets Plan.

Strong quantitative and communication skills are essential for effective public engagement. Applicants should have a degree with related experience and be prepared for evening/weekend

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus two years of community work experience or equivalent.
  • Alternative: high school diploma plus six years of related community work experience.
  • Equivalency for the above with at least one year of the stated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, design, and implementation of in-house bus priority projects and related transit initiatives.
  • Engage with the public, prepare outreach materials, and participate in public workshops and presentations.
  • Coordinate with MTA and internal/external stakeholders on transit planning efforts and coordination.
