Job summary

MABSTOA is seeking a Staff Analyst/Transportation Planner to join the Operations Planning – Data, Research and Development team in NYC. The role focuses on benchmarking and analyzing performance data to support NYCT goals across subway, bus and paratransit operations.

The position emphasizes quantitative analysis, GIS, programming, and cross‑department collaboration. It offers growth within a civil service framework and exposure to international benchmarking practices.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of transportation planning practices and policy.
• Experience with Excel and GIS required.
• Candidates with knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python and R are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data sources and performance indicators from benchmarking organizations.
• Provide KPI data and benchmark NYCT’s performance.
• Collaborate with departments to address transportation planning challenges.
• Assist with department-wide analyses requiring quantitative, programming and GIS skills.
