Job summary

The City of Glendale is seeking a Transit Operator to provide safe transportation services to residents through microtransit, paratransit or fixed routes. The ideal candidate has one year of transit bus experience and may work with elderly and disabled passengers, maintaining safety and customer service standards.

Responsibilities include vehicle checks, operating the lift, fare collection, reporting, and assisting with loading and unloading as needed.

Qualifications

• One year experience in the operation of a transit bus or passenger van.
• Experience working with elderly and disabled persons preferred.
• Must obtain a valid Arizona Class C Commercial Driver's license with Passenger endorsement within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates a microtransit, paratransit or fixed route bus, transporting passengers as directed.
• Completes daily vehicle checks and records maintenance needs.
• Assists passengers, including the elderly and disabled, in boarding and disembarking.
• Operates wheelchair lift and secures equipment; loads/unloads packages as needed.
• Transports passengers and equipment, communicates with dispatcher, and records stops and fares.
• Trains new employees and performs related duties as assigned.
