Job summary

Lane Transit District (LTD) is seeking an experienced Transit Operations Manager to oversee daily operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and customer-focused service. You will lead supervisory staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to implement improvements.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and labor relations experience, with a focus on performance metrics, staffing optimization, and compliance across federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of progressively responsible experience in transit/operations, including supervisory or management roles.
• Strong budgeting, procurement, and contract management skills.
• Experience with labor relations and union environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct daily transit operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery.
• Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and professional development for supervisory staff.
• Monitor performance metrics, staffing levels, and resource utilization; implement efficiency improvements.
• Assist in budgeting and monitoring to support efficient use of resources.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements; manage safety programs.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on workforce planning and employee relations matters.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing program per FTA/DOT requirements.
• Lead training development and vendor management related to operations.
• Serve as liaison with Service Planning, Fleet Maintenance, Marketing, HR and external agencies.
• Participate in the Operations leadership team and cover senior leadership as assigned.
• Support special projects and emergency response activities.
