Job summary

Via is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance program for transit equipment in Texas. This is a hands-on leadership role supervising technicians, managing work orders, and ensuring safety and cost efficiency on-site.

You will oversee budgeting, scheduling, and the employee lifecycle, including PTO approvals and payroll inquiries, while collaborating with Via partners to keep our fleet reliable and ready for service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on mechanical work experience.
• 3 years supervisory experience preferred/required.
• Vocational automotive training preferred.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Service, overhaul, and repair transit equipment; write work orders and prioritize tasks.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle for drivers: scheduling, PTO approvals, timesheets, inquiries, performance conversations, and policy adherence.
• Inspect work in progress and upon completion; approve stock orders; maintain records; troubleshoot facilities and equipment.
• Direct and coordinate administrative activities for maintenance budgets.
• Provide technical advice to mechanics and assess major repairs with safety and cost considerations.
• Train, coach, and mentor staff to ensure safety and consistent workmanship.
• Direct ordering, receiving, storing, and distribution of equipment supplies and parts.
• Diagnose repairs including engine, transmission, electrical, and preventive maintenance.
• Build relationships with partners, vendors, and Via teams.
