Job summary

CTtransit in Hartford and surrounding areas seeks a courteous Customer Service Associate to provide transit information, sell passes and tickets, and assist the public at the Customer Service and Sales Outlets.

Responsibilities include handling cash, balancing receipts, addressing passenger inquiries, and coordinating with colleagues to ensure accurate service and timely information. Flexibility for varied shifts, including weekends, is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum possession of a High School Diploma/GED.
• One (1) year of office experience with emphasis on telephone operations and public contact preferred.
• Knowledge of region is preferred.
• Must have a pleasant personality and possess excellent listening and communication skills along with the willingness to work well with the public.
• Must have the ability to quickly learn bus routes and schedules. Must be able to operate an electronic cash register and balance sales receipts accurately.
• A good work record is essential.
• Basic knowledge of software programs (word processing, spreadsheet and database), Internet applications and utilization of all relevant office equipment. The ability to learn quickly internal software programs.
• Must be able to handle confidential information.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed bus transit service information to the public including routes, schedules, stop locations, transfers, fares and policies.
• Document and respond to passenger complaints, suggestions and requests for service changes.
• Operate booth including monthly bus pass, ticket and token sales; balance receipts and perform related clerical work with high financial accuracy.
• Work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays; report early or stay late as needed.
• Collaborate with all levels of staff and maintain good public relations.
• Attend in-service training and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
