Job summary

Transdev is seeking a Director of Maintenance in Fairfax to lead the maintenance department for the FCDOT Fairfax Connector contract. You will drive safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency across fleets and facilities, supervising staff, training, budgeting, and audits.

You will ensure regulatory compliance with FTA, FMCSA, DOT and client requirements while coordinating with client representatives and corporate leadership to implement continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business/public administration or engineering.
• DOT/FTA/OSHA/EPA regulations knowledge.
• 10+ years heavy mechanic experience in transit fleet maintenance.
• 5+ years supervisory experience supervising 20+ mechanics.
• Formal training in electric propulsion systems.
• CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
• ASE Master Technician with brakes/steering/suspension or PMI.
• Fleet Manager certification required.
• Proficient with maintenance management software and RTA fleet tools.
• Strong leadership and budgeting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to maintenance managers, supervisors, technicians, and staff.
• Coordinate with client, regulators, and corporate leadership.
• Develop long/short-range maintenance plans and budgets.
• Oversee procurement, inventory, and vendor contracts.
• Ensure compliance with all policies, safety and regulatory standards.
• Analyze KPIs and implement data-driven improvements.
• Oversee audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
• Manage maintenance and certification programs for vehicles/equipment.
• Direct work of technicians and evaluate repairs.
• Maintain positive work environment and cross-functional collaboration.
