Job summary

Fairfax County Government seeks an experienced heavy-duty fleet maintenance professional to serve as the Fairfax Connector’s Assistant Fleet Coordinator. You will provide technical and administrative support for fleet maintenance programs, analyze performance data, and assist with telematics and zero-emission propulsion projects.

The ideal candidate holds a four-year degree and several years in heavy-duty fleet maintenance, with experience in procurement, QA/QC, and contract oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban/regional/transportation planning, or related field; 4 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for Fairfax Connector and Fastran fleet maintenance programs and monitor contracted service providers for compliance.
• Develop and implement fleet maintenance policies, processes, and best practices to improve reliability, efficiency, and availability.
• Manage fleet data and records (rosters, mileage, maintenance history, inventories, registrations).
• Review and analyze fleet maintenance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, including telematics and fleet management systems.
• Coordinate maintenance initiatives, preventive maintenance programs, campaigns, and software applications.
• Support QA/QC programs, including inspections, audits, and contractor performance reviews.
• Assist with procurement, production inspections, and vehicle acceptance activities with manufacturers/contractors.
• Support emerging fleet technologies including battery-electric propulsion.
• Handle fleet administrative and financial activities (budget monitoring, purchasing, invoices).
• Prepare technical reports, performance summaries, and management presentations.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
