Job summary

Transdev in Arlington, VA is seeking a Shop Foreman to supervise mechanics and maintenance staff, schedule repairs for electric and diesel buses, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role oversees outside contractors, monitors daily maintenance obligations, coordinates training, and works with Human Resources on interviews. Strong written and verbal communication and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in repair and maintenance of heavy‑duty vehicles.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Valid CDL Class B with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of an A-level mechanic, including PMs and preparing buses for DOT inspections.
• Supervises mechanics, investigates, provides information, and makes and administers decisions concerning employee discipline.
• Evaluates the performance of both new and current employees.
• Facilitates and schedules training of both new and current employees.
• Works with Human Resources by participating in interview panels for maintenance positions.
